The
Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester is
the local arts agency for the Rochester, New York metropolitan
region. Its mission is to develop, promote and strengthen the cultural
industry for the benefit of the people of the Rochester region.
The Arts Council directly serves the cultural community - artists
and cultural organizations - as well as the community at large.
Rochester

supplies. They also stock a complete range of domestic supplies
for the professional as well as the beginner artist.
The
Elizabeth Collection at ARTISANworks was originally
founded ten years ago as an artist cooperative. No longer a cooperative,
it has evolved into one of the largest, most exciting collections
of original artwork, sculpture and photography in the region.
Anderson

on the second, third, and fourth floors of the Anderson Allley
Building, in a former shoe factory factory at 250 N. Goodman

The
Wellesley Hotel: Reminiscent of an era gone by, the
Wellesley Hotel and Restaurant resides in the center of Thousand
Island Park, a private resort community on the St. Lawrence River.
I go there every summer and show my work in the restaurant.
Epicurean: A
great resource for food and wine lovers. Lots of recipes, articles,
book reviews, forums, and food and wine-related links.
Lynne
Feldman: The Art of Lynne Feldman—Capturing
the wonder of color, shape, form and spirit in oil paintings, serigraphs
and collage tapestries.
Rochester
Landmarks:
I like Rochester and put together this project to celebrate Rochester’s
many landmarks and attractions. I’ve been photographing Rochester’s
Landmarks of all kinds for a long time. My installation at the airport,
done ten years ago, is also titled Rochester Landmarks and was intended
to provide visitors with a sense of the place.
Rochester's
Big Trees:
I discovered that Rochester has a significant number of state champion
trees and that the Landmark Society provided a list of Rochester’s
Famous and Historic Trees. Like Edward Steichen who repeatedly photographed
the Shad-Blow tree outside his window and struggled to create a photograph
that matched his image of it, I have attempted to make photographs
that capture the spirit of Rochester's big trees.
The
Bridge Project:
A website I built to help preserve Rochester's historic Hojack Swing
Bridge which faces demolition if the U.S. Coast Guard succeeds in exercising
its power to compel removal of the bridge from the navigable waters
of the Genesee River. Please join our efforts to save the bridge!
1000
Island Landmarks:
For the past couple of years I have been privileged to be a summer
visitor to the 1000 Islands, NY, exploring the river, mostly by boat,
collecting damaged propellers along the way. I've heard that there
is an impressive "Propeller Garden" somewhere, but have not
found it yet. What I have found are subjects for both photographs and
stories—fascinating things that have historic connections that
prompt wonder and perspective including relics of the past or new castles,
local treasures, big trees and small churches, international bridges
and floating restaurants.
